Stereotypically, women are viewed as nurturers, and we can often find ourselves in a self-sacrificing position – especially as mothers. Whether it’s to support family, home life, or to keep on top of society’s pressures to juggle everything ‘perfectly’. And this can often lead to a ‘loss of self’ or dissatisfaction with daily life.
This is where I found myself a few years ago. I was in my 40s, unexpectedly pregnant with my fourth child, and everything around me seemed to be crumbling. I realise now that I was putting unfair pressure on myself to be everything to everyone. And as a result, I reached for temporary fixes to get me through what felt like a cyclone of devastating events.
That period of life led to my own self-reflection of who I am, how I view myself, how I treat my body and the expectations I have of myself. And ultimately, it led to the launch of My Beautiful Self in 2018.
Through my own education and learnings, I completely changed my mind-set and lifestyle. Did everything and everyone in my life change too? No, however the choices I made had a positive impact on various parts of my life - the ‘flow-on effect’.
Since then, I have spent years teaching and supporting others through life and business coaching, Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), one-on-one sessions, workshops, and corporate empowerment sessions. I was also titled as one of YMag’s Top 10 Women to Watch in 2020 and have written a chapter in the book Change Makers IWD Edition 2020.
With my first book set to be released later this year, I am honoured to be on this journey and helping others to open their eyes and heart to their beautiful self too.
